The Texas Department of State Health Services said a Kerr County resident died from COVID-19 on Feb. 9 — marking the second death that day and the seventh this month.

All seven Kerr County deaths have occurred in the first nine days of the month.

The omicron variant of COVID-19 appears to be winding down, but more than 10,000 Texans tested positive for the virus on Friday. Hospitalizations continued their downward trend, with slightly more than 6,000 people admitted to hospitals across the state. The number of children is still high — at more than 200.
